Summary
Elevator Action on the NES captures the tense spy‑like arcade experience in a 30‑story high‑rise. You guide Agent 17, aka Otto, as he darts between elevators, grabs red‑marked documents, and fights off enemy agents with pistols, jump‑kicks and dropping light fixtures.
The game rewards quick thinking: lingering triggers an alarm that speeds up foes and slows the elevators, while missing a document drops you on the top floor with a sealed red door. Dark shafts require you to shoot lighting fixtures to see, and you can even ride on elevator roofs for a tactical edge. Critics gave it middle‑of‑the‑road scores—around 5–6 out of 10—reflecting dated graphics but solid gameplay. Its endurance secured a re‑release on the Wii Virtual Console in 2007.
Storyline
In the NES classic Elevator Action, you play as Agent 17, codenamed "Otto," a secret operative dropped onto the roof of a 30‑story skyscraper. From the top, Otto must work his way down, using elevators and stairways to reach specially marked rooms that hide classified documents. Each floor presents a maze of doors where enemy agents pop out, firing to halt his progress. After gathering the intel, the goal is to slip out onto the ground level and hop into a waiting getaway car. The tension of navigating tight shafts while fending off foes defines the game’s fast‑paced, spy‑thriller feel.
