Summary

Dragon Spirit: The New Legend lets you take the reins of a soaring dragon in a vertical shooter that feels like a cross‑breed of 1942 and Tiger‑Heli. You can pick between a golden dragon for an easier, faster‑paced run or a blue dragon for the standard challenge, and each hue brings its own power‑up quirks—golden fireballs sweep the screen, while the blue version relies on steadier, more balanced attacks.

The game grants full 360° movement across the screen, with enemies pouring in from the top and occasional ground‑bomb threats that force you to juggle aerial fire and bomb drops. Nine distinct worlds stretch from a prehistoric stage to a surreal parallel universe called the Evil Palace, each packed with its own set of foes and bosses.

If you fall early in the opening level, an "easy mode" kicks in, trimming tougher stages and swapping out enemies for a shorter, more forgiving experience. This dual‑mode design gives the title a surprising amount of replay value, especially when you compare the speed‑boosted gold dragon against the methodical blue one.

Storyline

Dragon Spirit – also known simply as Dragon Spirit – opens in the kingdom of Olympis, where peace has lasted for years after King Amul (called Amru in the English version) defeated the demon Zawel. When the sorcerer Galda resurrects Zawel with black magic and kidnaps Princess Iris, Amul’s son Prince Lace awakens from a nightmare of his father’s death and takes up his father’s sword. Lace confronts Galda, rescues his sister, and is transformed not into his father’s blue dragon but into a golden dragon to battle the evil forces.

A parallel account from the game’s promotional material tells of a millennium‑long captivity of the serpent demon Zawell, who breaks free and abducts Princess Alicia of Mitgult. A crafty soldier named Amul prays for strength, points his sword to the heavens, and is granted the form of an all‑powerful blue dragon. Armed with lethal air and ground attacks, he must seek extra powers and defeat nine mighty beasts that the demon has summoned before he can save the princess.
