Summary
Dragon Power is an NES action‑adventure originally built by Bandai as a translation of the Japanese title Dragon Ball: Shenron no Nazo. The North American version strips the obvious Dragon Ball references, renaming characters—Goku stays, Bulma becomes Nora, Master Roshi is simply Hermit, Oolong turns into Pudgy and Yamcha into Lancer.
In Europe the game kept the Dragon Ball branding and was released under that name, showing how regional edits could completely reshape a title’s identity. The localized package also trims the number of stages compared with the Japanese original, resulting in a shorter but still charming run for platform fans.
Storyline
Dragon Power follows the monkey‑tailed boy Goku and his teenage friend Nora on a daring quest for the seven Crystal Balls, legendary artifacts said to grant any wish. The pair travel across varied lands, meeting quirky allies and foes along the way. They receive guidance from the wise turtle hermit known simply as Hermit, who offers cryptic hints about the balls’ locations. A shapeshifting pig named Pudgy joins the adventure, providing comic relief and occasional help. Their final challenge comes from the desert bandit Lancer, who seeks the crystals for his own selfish designs.
