Summary

Dig Dug II: Trouble in Paradise drops the classic tunnel‑digging for a sun‑splashed island adventure. Instead of burrowing underground, Taizo Hori lounges under palm trees only to be chased by the ever‑annoying Pookas and fire‑breathing Fygars, turning his vacation into a frantic scramble.

Armed with an air pump that inflates foes until they pop and a jackhammer that cracks the island’s fault lines, you can slice the land into sinking pieces. When a fault loop reaches the surrounding sea, the enclosed terrain drops, wiping out any enemies (and the player if you’re not careful). The bigger the chunk, the higher the score, and after three successful cuts a bonus vegetable appears for extra points. As the enemy count dwindles to one, two, or three, they panic and leap into the water, ending the round.

The NES port, released in 1989, kept the subtitle “Trouble in Paradise” on its box, giving the game a cheeky, tropical vibe that still feels fresh for retro fans.
