Summary

Desert Commander lets you command a modest squad of nine unit types plus a headquarters that can even fire back. Each mission hands you a set quota of units, and you can swap them around however you like as long as you stay within that limit. When you play solo you can hand the second controller to a friend to tweak the CPU’s forces, and the computer always gets a larger pool of units on the tougher scenarios, making the challenge come from sheer numbers rather than clever AI. The game is purely turn‑based with no clock ticking down, and the win condition is simple: be the first to blow up the enemy headquarters. Every unit has its own movement range that changes with terrain (except aircraft, which ignore it), a fixed firing range, and a finite supply of ammo and fuel that must be refilled at the appropriate structures—aircraft land at airports, ground units at supply depots. Each class also has a clear strength‑and‑weakness chart, excelling against one opponent type while performing averagely against the rest.
