Summary

Deep Dungeon IV: Kuro no Yōjutsushi (often called Deep Dungeon IV: The Black Sorcerer) caps off the series by swapping the beloved custom‑character creation for up to two pre‑set allies you meet along the way. Each of these companions arrives with a fixed class, letting you focus on party synergy rather than building a hero from scratch.

The game returns to the classic random stat growth when you level up, and it adds a fresh twist: you can eventually summon two different monsters to fight alongside you for a single encounter. It also drops the safety net that halted random battles when you out‑level the enemies, though the tighter 32×32‑tile maps keep wandering feel manageable.

Scattered throughout the dungeons are NPC "requests" – optional side jobs that hand out extra items, experience, or money when you complete them, giving a nice incentive to explore beyond the main quest.
