Summary
Darkman on NES drops you into a gritty side‑scroll where you are the scarred vigilante from the film. You can jump, kick and punch, and occasional rope‑swing segments let you cross open gaps between areas.
Most stages revolve around a capture‑and‑disguise mechanic: you photograph the level’s boss, then craft a mask that lets you assume his look and special ability. The mask works only until sunlight burns it away, so you’ve got to trade it quickly.
A timer is always ticking – finish the showdown before it runs out, or you lose the chance to advance. The climax puts you on a half‑built skyscraper, echoing the movie’s finale, where you battle for survival amid crumbling beams.
Storyline
In Darkman (NES) you step into the shoes of Peyton Westlake, a scientist left for dead and reborn as the vengeful Darkman. Using his revolutionary disguising system, you can craft masks that let you impersonate the gangsters who caused his disfigurement. The game thrusts you into the criminal empire of mobster Robert G. Durant, where you infiltrate his crew and dismantle it from the inside. Along the way you relive the film’s most iconic set‑pieces: a daring helicopter chase, a high‑speed plunge that sends you swinging through freeway traffic, and a gritty skyscraper shoot‑out. The final level mirrors the movie’s climax, taking place on a skyscraper under construction as Darkman battles for his life while the building looms around him.
