Summary

Cybernoid: The Fighting Machine is a fast‑paced shoot ’em up that first appeared on the ZX Spectrum before hopping across a whole suite of 8‑bit and 16‑bit machines, including the Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, NES and Amiga. The code was written by Raffaele Cecco, whose tight programming gave the game its signature sense of speed and precision, and Hewson Consultants oversaw the whole effort.

One of the quirkiest bits of its legacy lies in the music: the Spectrum and Atari ST versions share a driving main theme composed by Dave Rogers, while the Commodore 64 port swaps in a completely different melody from Jeroen Tel – a track that later resurfaced on the Wii’s Virtual Console. Those divergent soundtracks give each version its own personality, even though the core gameplay stays unmistakably "Cybernoid."
