Summary
Crackout takes the classic brick‑busting formula and spices it up with a handful of Konami quirks. The game is split into four distinct zones—Cubic, Mirror, Tube and the Final—each packed with eleven levels that challenge you to either wipe out every brick or take down the roaming enemies. Power‑ups drop from those foes, ranging from a parachute that slows the ball to extra balls and even projectile shots, giving the paddle a surprising amount of firepower.
Enemies pop out of trapdoors in the corners or slip in through the side walls, usually one to three at a time, and a flying Konami Man swoops across the screen to warp you to the next stage. Every few levels a boss appears—a dragon, a centipede, and the like—changing color from green to blue to pink as its speed ramps up, turning each encounter into a quick‑draw showdown.
Hidden letters are tucked into every level, and when you collect them all you’re prompted for a password at the end of Zone 4, Level 11. Enter the correct code—MERRYCHRISTMAS—and the credits roll as a parade of the game’s quirky enemies, rewarding the diligent player with a festive finale.
