Summary

Cosmo Police Galivan is a fast‑paced NES platform shooter that blends classic side‑scrolling action with a surprisingly deep exploration system. You dash, jump, and bounce off spring‑loaded platforms across a maze of caves, baroque rooms and underwater passages, constantly fending off swarms of robots and alien ships.

The game starts you as an unarmed human, limited to punches and kicks, but scattered POW items let you don a metallic suit and equip a laser gun. Blue POWs upgrade the beam for a short burst, while red POWs grant a three‑shot cannon. Your energy bar fuels both health and the suit; dip below half and you shed the armor, reverting to bare‑fist combat, but a fresh POW instantly restores power.

Springboards pepper the terrain, launching you to hidden ledges that often hide the next power‑up. The level design feels almost Metroidvania‑like, with secret corridors and items that unlock new routes, while each stage culminates in a distinct boss fight. Two alternating stages repeat endlessly, encouraging mastery of the suit’s weapons and the strategic use of "cosmo points" that charge special attacks as you level up through enemy kills.
