Summary

Choujin Sentai - Jetman (often just called Jetman) is a Japanese‑only NES title that drops you straight into a side‑scrolling action romp. I take control of one of the elite Jetmen, each piloting a sleek, color‑coded jet suit, and blast my way through waves of the alien Vyram forces. The game’s single‑player focus means every level feels like a personal showdown, with tight platforming and a steady stream of enemy fire to dodge. What really sticks with me is the way the Jetmen’s abilities feel distinct, encouraging you to experiment with each character’s special attacks. Even without a story recap, the relentless pace and retro‑style graphics make it a hidden gem for anyone hunting obscure 8‑bit action.

Storyline

In the year 199X, the Earth Defense Sky Force orbits the planet, keeping watch 24 hours a day to preserve world peace. When trouble erupts, agents such as SF‑W6 and SF‑W3 are dispatched, and after a successful mission they earn promotion to the secret J‑project.

Aboard their ship, The Chief reveals that exposure to Birdonic waves will transform the agents into the heroic team known as Choujin Sentai. The first conversion happens to Tendou Ryu, who becomes a Jetman just as the alien Vyram launch a surprise assault. Their leader, Radiguet, boasts of having conquered other dimensions and now sets his sights on the third dimension.

During the chaos Ryu’s girlfriend Rie is lost through a breach in the vessel, and the Birdonic wave generator shatters. The four remaining waves scatter across Earth at random. In the aftermath, Ryu and The Chief scour the planet, hunting for the other members of the fledgling Jetman team.
