Summary

Castelian drops you into a bizarre, rotating column of towers that feels strangely three‑dimensional for an 8‑bit console. The camera stays centered on the green protagonist while the cylindrical structure turns left or right as you walk, giving the illusion that the whole tower revolves around him.

The goal is simple: scale each tower until you reach the door that triggers its self‑destruct. You traverse narrow walkways on the outside, timing jumps onto moving ledges and kicking away basic geometric foes. Some enemies can be shot, but many are immune and will knock you down to the lower ledge; a missing ledge means an instant plunge into the sea below.\n
After the explosion, you hop into a tiny MK.7 submarine for a side‑scrolling bonus round, where you zap assorted fish for extra points before the next tower looms. The blend of rotating tower illusion, tight platforming, and a quick shoot‑‘em‑up intermission made Castelian stand out among NES titles.

Storyline

In Castelian for the NES, you control Pogo, a tiny green creature on a high‑stakes mission. Eight massive towers have risen from the sea, and Pogo must destroy each one by planting a bomb at its peak. He starts at the base of a tower and climbs the rotating cylindrical structure, navigating twists and hazards as he ascends. When he reaches the summit, Pogo slips through a door that activates the tower’s self‑destruct mechanism. The cycle repeats for all eight towers, turning the ocean‑filled landscape into a series of explosive challenges.
