Summary

Casino Kid (known in Japan as $1,000,000 Kid: Maboroshi no Teiou Hen) drops you in the tongue‑in‑cheek town of Lost Wages, a playful nod to Las Vegas. The goal is simple: rack up chips by playing blackjack and five‑card‑draw poker, while the colorful graphics and a soundtrack echo late‑80s arcade vibes.

In the Japanese version the kid sports electric blue hair and you can actually fly to other gambling hubs—New York or a casino in Japan—paying a steep airfare each time. That edition also lets you insert your own name, experiment in a free‑mode practice room, and even features the real Golden Nugget rather than the parody venue used abroad. The North American cut swaps blue hair for blond, removes slots and roulette, and keeps the tournament framing.

Bunny‑costumed waitresses roam the floor, offering cryptic tips, and the game discourages skipping more than one opponent, effectively punishing reckless jumps. These quirks give the title a whimsical yet strategic charm that still catches the eye of retro collectors.

Storyline

In Casino Kid you play as a nameless teen who starts the night with just $500 in his pocket. You wander a sprawling casino floor, chatting with patrons and challenging those willing to gamble in either blackjack or poker. Early on most NPCs refuse to play, forcing you to beat a specific sequence of opponents before the full roster becomes available. As you rack up winnings, the ultimate goal is to amass a fortune and take down the evil King of the Casino. The Japanese version frames the adventure as a kid’s day‑dream of becoming a casino champion, while the North American release presents it as a high‑stakes tournament against the world’s toughest gamblers.
