Summary

Bucky O'Hare drops you into the Aniverse where the heroic rabbit captain leads the Righteous Indignation against the oppressive Toad Air Marshall. The first four planets—Green, Red, Blue and Yellow—serve as self‑contained stages, each imprisoning a different crew member. As you rescue Dead‑Eye the duck, Jenny the cat, Blinky the android, and human Willy, you unlock their unique weapons and movement quirks, letting you switch characters on the fly.

The game’s platforming feels like a mash‑up of Mega Man’s precision and Contra’s run‑and‑gun pace, with tight hit‑registration and a limited screen‑scroll. Level layouts force you to dodge hazards, collect power‑ups, and blast through enemy swarms, echoing the classic side‑scroller formula.

Once all mates are saved, the Toad Air Marshall grabs the entire ship in the massive Magnum Tanker, turning the final stages into a cooperative puzzle where rescued crew members help each other breach its defenses and finally escape.

Storyline

Bucky O'Hare on the NES drops players into a parallel universe locked in a galactic war between the United Animals Federation and the evil Toad Empire. The U.A.F. is a republic ruled by intelligent mammals, while the Toad Empire is driven by a massive computer called KOMPLEX. Bucky’s mission is to rescue his scattered crew across a chain of hostile planets. Each rescued member unlocks the ability to swap between them and Bucky, letting players tackle different obstacles.

After reuniting the whole crew—except Bruiser, who never appears in the game—they’re captured again and locked aboard the Toad mother‑ship. Bucky and the telepathic rabbit Blinky share a cell, break out, and must free the remaining teammates. The duo fights through the monstrous vessel, rescuing the crew one last time before confronting the empire’s core. The storyline blends classic side‑scroll action with a sci‑fi plot that mirrors the original comic’s interstellar rebellion.
