Summary

Bonk's Adventure, called PC Genjin in Japan and PC Kid in Europe, is a bright scrolling platformer that lets you control a chubby cave‑boy wielding nothing but his rock‑hard forehead. The game’s quirky charm comes from its meat power‑ups: a bite of small meat adds a secondary ability, while a larger piece temporarily makes Bonk invulnerable, and stacking them extends the effect. Health is represented by three hearts that you can refill with fruits and vegetables, and the rare blue heart even raises your maximum health bar. Points and smiley faces are dropped by defeated enemies, rewarding careful play at the end of each stage. Although Hudson Soft published the title, the original design, character art and much of the NES programming were handled by Red Company together with A.I. Company, giving the title a distinct look that still feels fresh today.

Storyline

Bonk's Adventure drops you into a whimsical prehistoric world where the landscape is populated by cartoonish dinosaurs and other ancient critters.

You play as Bonk, a muscular, bald caveboy who punches his way through hordes of anthropomorphic dinosaurs and assorted prehistoric foes.

The plot kicks off when the evil King Drool, a massive green tyrannosaur, kidnaps Princess Za—a tiny pink, plesiosaur‑like reptile—dragging her to his lair.

Bonk’s sole mission is to chase Drool across rugged cliffs, lava‑filled caverns and jungle ruins, smashing obstacles and collecting power‑ups along the way.

When he finally confronts King Drool and rescues Princess Za, peace returns to the ancient realm.
