Summary

The Blues Brothers on NES lets you and a friend dive into a side‑scrolling romp where Jake and El El can hoist boxes, stand on them or hurl them at any goons that block the way. Each stage is a twist on classic platforming – you’ll have to locate a key item, like a guitar, before the level’s exit, and the final stage even lands you on a stage‑like set. Though the game supports two players, the screen follows only the active character, keeping the action tight. Titus France handled the original code, and Dimitris Yerasimos supplied the electronic Peter Gunn‑style soundtrack that pulls directly from the film, with the Game Boy version getting a separate score by Thorsten Mitschele. Critics were split: Nintendo‑focused mags gave it middling marks, while Zzap!64 crowned the C64 port one of the platformer’s all‑time best. A quirky sequel, The Blues Brothers: Jukebox Adventure, followed on SNES and other systems a year later.

Storyline

The Blues Brothers is a platform game that draws its inspiration from the iconic musical duo. Players guide the brothers through side‑scrolling levels, dodging police officers and various vigilantes.

The ultimate goal is to reach the blues concert, with the sixth and final stage culminating on‑stage.
