Summary
In "Big Nose the Caveman" you guide the hungry caveman across four sprawling islands—Paradise, Monster, Terror, and Chaos—searching for his next meal. Along the way Big Nose gathers bones, the in‑game currency that lets you stock up on spells, ability upgrades, and useful items at scattered shops. Combat revolves around his club, which can launch up to three stone projectiles at foes, while a single hit will end his run unless he’s protected by stones. The levels are littered with treacherous pits, hidden traps, and lethal lava or water, and the caveman can’t swim, making every misstep costly. Adding to the challenge, the game offers no checkpoint revival; once all lives are lost you must start over, which contributes to its reputation for unforgiving difficulty.
Storyline
Long ago, a hungry caveman named Big Nose stepped out of his cave and spotted a pterodactyl soaring overhead. He thought, “That will be my dinner,” grabbed his trusty club, and gave chase. The pursuit turned into a perilous adventure as Big Nose trekked across a chain of islands, each more treacherous than the last. His simple hunt for a meal became a sprawling quest for survival, with the ever‑elusive pterodactyl always just out of reach. This is the core of the NES title Big Nose the Caveman, where hunger drives the action.
