Summary
Bee 52 is an unlicensed side‑scrolling adventure for the NES that turns a honeybee into a tiny action hero. You guide the insect with the D‑pad, using the A button to spit a stream of sticky projectiles and the B button to sting enemies from above, while its oversized eyes keep a playful grin on the screen.
The game spans twelve stages, beginning in a suburban backyard, then dipping into a soggy swamp, and finally venturing into a cramped house. Along the way you confront everything from giant spiders and sneaky ants to slime‑trail slugs and even dragon‑like flies, all while gathering flowers to fill the hive’s honey jar. Hidden power‑ups—such as a longer‑reach super stinger or random lightning‑bug ammo—can be unlocked, and a wandering junior insect will sacrifice itself to protect your bee from a fatal hit.
A Commodore 64 port was finished in 1993, but Codemasters’ pull‑back from that market shelved it. The programmer later struck a private deal and sold the game by mail‑order, earning a cult‑retro nod from AllGame’s Skyler Miller, who praised its inventive premise and solid execution.
