Artelius, the Japan‑only NES action‑RPG, lets you start by tweaking every facet of your character – from raw strength to shield durability and agility. Those stats aren’t just numbers; they shape how hard you hit, how well you block, and how often you can slip away from a random first‑person encounter.
The universe map is a study in color‑coded danger: red dots mark hostile forces, while blue dots signal space colonies where you can rest, resupply, and choose between at least two doors or a warp point to jump elsewhere. Warp points become your shortcut through the galaxy, letting you hop between distant sectors without grinding through every battle.
Combat is fast and unforgiving, but the laser beam stands out as the ultimate armament. With enough upgrades it transforms into the hyper magnum, outclassing even fully powered missiles or bazookas. Every victory feeds experience points, pushing you up the level ladder and sharpening the very traits you customized at the start.
Artelius (often just called Artelius) tells the tale of an advanced civilization that once thrived in a distant solar system. A sudden black hole ripped the entire population into a parallel dimension, which became known as Artelius. The realm is now ruled by the tyrannical king Sarbelor, who wields a machine that has fractured the universe into asteroid‑filled sectors. To stop him, scientist Dr. Rado has constructed a lone cyborg, the only being entrusted with the mission to defeat Sarbelor and free Artelius. The cyborg must navigate the hazardous asteroid belts and confront the king’s forces, hoping to restore peace to the shattered worlds.
