Summary
Airball drops you into a wizard’s sprawling mansion, a maze of over 250 isometric rooms where you’re literally a ball of air. The evil sorcerer forces you to hunt for a Spellbook while a slow leak drains your life‑force, so you must hop onto scattered inflating stations that act as both checkpoints and lifelines—stay too long and you’ll pop. A yellow bar at the bottom tracks your breath, and three tiny balls in the corner count your remaining chances.
Every room is littered with odd trinkets—crosses, tins of beans, a Buddha, a dragon statue, a pumpkin, a flask, even crates—that you must lift or dodge while avoiding spikes, killer pads, and treacherous gaps that can burst you instantly. Gems drift randomly, rewarding daring navigation, and you can climb stairs simply by jumping.
The game’s graphics and synth soundtrack earned praise for their quirky charm, and it even earned a spot on a planned NES release by Novotrade and Tengen before the cartridge was pulled, leaving the title as a cult classic for those with steady nerves and a taste for the bizarre.
