Storyline

The plot of Zanac-Ex (commonly just Zanac) centers on a mysterious device called the System, akin to Pandora’s box. Created millennia ago by an unknown alien race, the System holds limitless knowledge and destructive power. When humanity first tried to open it, the attempt failed and the System began spreading across space, wreaking havoc on all life. Later humans learned how to access its wisdom but could not stop its relentless expansion.

The System’s defenses are built to annihilate entire fleets, so the only hope is a single starfighter that can slip through. The AFX‑6502 Zanac, the most advanced fighter ever built, is launched on a desperate mission to pierce the defenses, reach the heart of the System and shut it down.
