Summary

Pac‑Mania takes the classic dot‑eating chase and throws it into an isometric world that scrolls both horizontally and vertically, so the maze is bigger than the screen and follows Pac‑Man wherever he goes. The biggest twist is the jump mechanic – Pac‑Man can leap over ghosts, but the trick isn’t one‑sided; later ghosts learn to hop too, turning a simple evasion into a mid‑air cat‑and‑mouse game. Power pellets still turn the ghosts blue and vulnerable, rewarding daring players with extra points, while special items like red and green pellets boost scores or speed for a short burst. Four distinct mazes – Block Town, Pac‑Man’s Park, Sandbox Land and Jungly Steps – cycle after a set of rounds, with wrap‑around edges that add a subtle layer of strategy. The MSX2 version landed in mid‑June 1989, preserving all of these quirks for home‑computer fans.
