Play Alpha Roid Online

Summary

Alpha Roid (also known as Alpharoid) feels like a love‑letter to the golden age of MSX gaming. It fuses the frantic scrolling of a classic horizontal shooter with the immediacy of hand‑to‑hand combat, so after you’ve blasted through a wave of alien ships you’re suddenly thrown into a close‑quarters brawl for the next weapon upgrade. The result is a surprisingly smooth transition between dogfighting in space and street‑fighting on the screen, giving the game a kinetic edge that keeps the action fresh.

Originally released for the MSX family of computers, the title showcases the hardware’s sprite capabilities while delivering a quirky hybrid experience that still feels distinctively retro.
