Summary

X‑Men: Gamesmaster's Legacy landed on the Game Gear as an action‑packed sequel that expands the roster beyond the opening Cyclops and Storm pair. As you progress, you can unlock fan‑favorites like Wolverine, Gambit, Rogue, Bishop, Phoenix and even the hidden Cable, giving a satisfying sense of growth.

The game is divided into two sections – five gear‑rescue stages followed by a three‑stage finale – each populated by a roster of memorable foes. Bosses such as Siena Blaze, Shinobi Shaw, Trevor Fitzroy, Fabian Cortez, Exodus, Apocalypse, Mister Sinister and Stryfe keep the difficulty climbing and the encounters fresh.

Critics took note: Electronic Gaming Monthly called it a solid sequel, highlighting the crisp graphics, responsive controls and expanding X‑Men lineup while awarding a 6.4 / 10. GamePro praised it as a clear step up from the earlier Spider‑Man‑and‑the‑X‑Men handheld, noting the smoother play‑ability and visual upgrades.

Storyline

In X-Men: Gamesmaster's Legacy, the deadly Legacy Virus is wiping out mutantkind, and the only hope lies in the Gamesmaster’s hands. He challenges the X‑Men to a high‑stakes game where the prize is the cure itself, while simultaneously tempting their foes with the chance to claim the antidote and crush the heroes. The X‑Men are forced to split their team, racing against time and rival villains to locate the remedy before the virus claims them forever.
