Storyline

Phantasy Star Gaiden, often just called Gaiden, follows a side‑story set on the colony Copto, the world Alis Landale founded after sealing the evil Cablon (later named Kaburon). Four centuries after Alis’s first adventure, two villagers from Tedo—Alec and Minina—discover an ancient artifact and learn that Alec’s father has been kidnapped by bandits.

Determined to rescue him, the pair set out on a perilous quest that soon leads them far beyond their home. Their journey eventually brings them back to Alis, who has been in cryogenic sleep, keeping watch over Kaburon’s sealed power.

With Copto saved, the ending hints that the darkness will rise again on Algol, setting the stage for Phantasy Star II.
