Storyline

Lunar: Sanposuru Gakuen, known casually as Lunar: Walking School, follows Ellie and her best friend Lena as they leave their farm life in Burg to attend a newly‑established floating magic school on the island of Ien. Upon arrival they discover the campus and surrounding town abandoned, and must rally the other students—Senia the Beastwoman, the quiet scholarship boy Wing, and several classmates—into a makeshift community while searching for missing instructors.

The game is divided into twelve chapters, each framed by a curtain opening and closing. Along the way the group confronts magical creatures and the hostile Vile Tribe, whose second‑in‑command Barua takes an interest in Wing and whose leader Memphis worships a mysterious entity called "D". Rival boys Ant, Kule and Rick initially tease Ellie and Lena but eventually become allies after a series of heated exchanges.
