Summary
Kawasaki Superbike Challenge (known in Europe as Kawasaki Superbikes) lets you step into the shoes of a Kawasaki factory rider and race through a fictional series of circuits. The game runs on the same engine that powered Sega’s Genesis F1 title, but swaps cars for bikes and adds a richer set of roadside polygons. You can choose from 14 standard tracks plus the grueling Suzuka 8‑Hour endurance race, and set each event to five, ten or fifteen laps across four skill levels. Weather is optional – rain darkens the screen and reduces traction – and a Turbo mode pushes the bike’s speed at the cost of some visual detail.
Reviewers highlighted the sheer amount of customization: you can toggle weather, enable Turbo, and pick lap counts, all while the controls stay tight and responsive. The handheld version on Game Gear earned particular praise for its crisp graphics, breakneck pace, and a two‑player mode that feels surprisingly deep for a portable racer. One critic summed it up: “Handheld racing doesn’t get much better than this.”
