Summary
The Excellent Dizzy Collection landed on the Game Gear in Europe in late 1993, bundling three very different Dizzy experiences into one cartridge. Codemasters had originally planned separate Master System and Mega Drive releases, but financial strain after the Aladdin Deck Enhancer flop meant only the handheld version ever saw the light of day.
Inside the pack, "Dizzy the Adventurer" offers an upgraded take on the earlier Dizzy Prince of the Yolkfolk, delivering richer graphics and a more polished adventure feel. "Panic Dizzy" replaces the shelved Wonderland Dizzy and brings three quirky puzzle modes—Shape Shifter, Dizzy Dice, and Picture Puzzler—so players can test their wits in quick‑fire challenges. The third title, "Go! Dizzy Go!", is a maze‑style action‑puzzle reminiscent of Lolo, with five worlds of five levels each, power‑ups, and even a two‑player mode.
The compilation was a pragmatic solution: Codemasters didn’t want to price each game individually, and marketing insisted the bundle not contain two full adventures. After its release the Oliver twins left Codemasters, the Dizzy IP split, and no new titles appeared until the long‑awaited releases of Wonderland Dizzy and Dreamworld Pogie years later.
Storyline
The Excellent Dizzy Collection on Game Gear bundles three quirky titles starring the egg‑shaped hero Dizzy and his companion Daisy.
In Dizzy the Adventurer, Dizzy embarks on a magical quest to free Daisy from an endless sleep caused by a cursed spinning wheel; the only cure is a prince’s kiss, and the journey is packed with humor, action, mystery and a host of new characters.
Panic Dizzy drops the narrative and offers pure puzzle challenges for the Yolfolk, testing players’ reflexes without a specific story.
Go Dizzy Go! returns to arcade‑style chaos as Dizzy and Daisy race through Zaks’ treacherous worlds, dodging nasties and freeing the yolkfolk across weird and wonderful levels.
