Summary

Devilish turns the familiar brick‑breaker formula into an intense vertical‑scrolling duel. I control two paddles: the upper one slams down on demons, while the lower one guards the bottom edge so the ball doesn’t plunge out of play. Every level is a stream of breakable blocks and enemy swarms that you clear en‑route to a boss that watches from the screen’s end. The game lets you pick from three difficulty settings and even offers a time‑trial mode for speed‑run fans. While the Mega Drive port adds a two‑player mode, the handheld version keeps the solo challenge tight, making Devilish a standout twist on classic Arkanoid for the Game Gear.

Storyline

In Devilish on Game Gear, a jealous demon curses the kingdom’s beloved prince and princess, turning them into stone paddles that resemble the flippers of a pinball machine. The once‑happy couple is now trapped in a static form, while the demonic rulers tighten their grip on the realm. Suddenly, a mystical ball materializes, capable of bouncing off the stone paddles and harnessing their power. Guided by the ball, players must navigate pinball‑style tables, using the prince and princess as flippers to strike back at the invading demons. Each successful hit weakens the dark forces, gradually restoring peace and freeing the royal pair from their stone prison.
