Summary

Zool: Ninja of the Nth Dimension arrived as Gremlin Graphics’ bold answer to Sega’s Sonic, carving its own niche with blazingly fast platform action. The Game Boy port captured the same kinetic feel, letting handheld players dash through seven vivid lands, collect power‑ups and stumble upon secret minigames—ranging from an arcade‑style shooter to a quirky piano tune puzzle. Originally codenamed Pootz, the hero began as a spell‑casting gremlin, but the final release swapped magic for simple, colorful pickups that boost speed or double firepower. An eye‑catching partnership with Chupa Chups even placed the candy brand’s logo inside several levels, a rare instance of product placement in early ’90s gaming. The title’s electronic soundtrack, crafted by Patrick Phelan, borrowed motifs from the Lotus 3 score and now circulates in techno remixes. Though modestly scored 80 % by Power Unlimited, Zool still feels like a nostalgic rush for anyone who ever chased a blue blur on a pocket screen.

Storyline

Zool, the gremlin known as the Ninja of the Nth Dimension, crash‑lands on Earth in the Game Boy title Zool. To earn his ninja ranking, he must traverse seven distinct lands, each culminating in a boss battle. The journey forces him to fight through varied environments while mastering his ninja abilities. Success in each land grants him the rank he seeks, ultimately proving his skill across the Nth Dimension.
