Summary

Yoshi's Cookie on the Game Boy arrived alongside its NES counterpart, giving players the same three core gameplay styles but a clear multiplayer edge. The handheld’s VS mode could host up to four competitors, each hidden behind their own screen, which turned the usual split‑screen rivalry into a tense, blind‑tactics showdown. While the tiny LCD made the colorful cookies harder to read, the added secrecy made every move feel more strategic. The puzzle itself works like a Rubik’s Cube: you steer a cursor to rotate whole rows or columns until they’re filled with matching cookies, then they vanish. A special Yoshi‑shaped cookie pops up occasionally as a wild card, helping to clear stubborn lines. As the grid swells from the top and right, you race against overflow, clearing level after level. The Game Boy version’s four‑player chaos and hidden screens earned it praise as the most addictive multiplayer spin on the classic tile‑matching formula.
