Summary

Playing WWF Raw on the Game Boy feels like a stripped‑down version of its console cousins. The handheld runs noticeably slower, and the roster is trimmed down, so you won’t find the full cast you see on the SNES or Genesis. Even though the roster is smaller, each wrestler still retains a unique signature move that sets them apart in the ring. The core of the action is the classic tug‑of‑war lock‑up: a meter pops up when two wrestlers grapple, and you mash buttons to shift the energy to your side. This system lets you unleash more powerful attacks, and the game adds fresh staples like DDTs, fallaway slams, and a variety of suplexes that weren’t in the earlier titles. While the console versions let you mix and match mega moves, the Game Boy port limits everyone to a shared move set aside from those signature finishers. As the sequel to WWF Royal Rumble and the final entry in LJN’s 16‑bit WWF trilogy, this portable edition drops several match types—Bedlam, Royal Rumble, and Raw Endurance aren’t available, and the Bedlam mode is completely absent. The result is a leaner, more arcade‑like experience that still captures the spirit of the TV show, even if it sacrifices some depth for the convenience of a pocket‑sized console.
