Summary

Wordtris, the quirky Tetris spin‑off, was dreamed up by Sergei Utkin, Vyacheslav Tsoy and—surprisingly—Armen Sarkissian, who later became Armenia’s president. The Game Boy port landed in 1992, bringing the same falling‑letter puzzle to a handheld audience.

The core challenge is to stack three‑letter (or longer) words horizontally or vertically, letting them overlap like a crossword. If you manage to spell the secret “magic word” at the top of the well, the whole board clears and you score a hefty bonus. Occasionally a “?” tile drops; you can pick its letter, or let it turn random if you ignore it.

Audio-wise, the handheld version features original loops by Ed Bogas, with David Warhol handling the sound engine and musical arrangements. Those looping tunes give the portable experience a distinct, catchy backdrop that sets Wordtris apart from its block‑dropping cousins.
