Summary
Who Framed Roger Rabbit on the Game Boy feels like a tiny slice of Toontown you can actually wander. It’s one of the first games Shinji Mikami worked on, and even on the monochrome screen the adventure manages to capture the cartoon’s chaotic charm. You guide Roger around an outdoor hub dotted with buildings you can enter, tapping objects and talking to characters to unlock new areas. Progress hinges on collecting the right items – carrots refill your three‑heart health meter, while a handful of weapons let you fend off the ambushing weasels that litter the map. The game also uses a password system, so you can pick up where you left off after a quick break.
Storyline
In the Game Boy version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Roger is summoned by Marvin Acme to the latter’s factory to retrieve a deed and Jessica Rabbit’s will, a crucial step to save Toontown from the greedy Judge Doom. Doom plans to unleash a dip‑filled machine that would wipe out the cartoon district, and Marvin is promptly shot through his office window, dying before he can help.
After meeting Jessica, Roger watches her get snatched by Doom’s weasel henchmen, prompting him to enlist the aid of private eye Eddie Valiant. Together they battle a roster of cartoon weasels—including Stupid, Greasy, Psycho, and the censored "Smarty" (originally Smart Ass)—as they chase clues through the city.
The duo eventually breaches Doom’s mansion complex, confronts the villain, defeats him, and destroys the dip machine, thwarting Doom’s plan and securing Toontown’s future.
