Summary

We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story on Game Boy is a solid side‑scrolling platformer that feels very familiar if you’ve ever played Beam Software’s other handheld titles. It runs on the same engine and level‑layout code base as Baby T‑Rex, Agro Soar and the Swedish Bamse conversion, delivering smooth jumping and sprite‑rich backgrounds within the Game Boy’s modest hardware.

Even though the roster pulls faces straight from the ’93 film—Captain Neweyes, the friendly T‑Rex and his dinosaur companions—the game carves its own path, steering clear of a literal movie retelling. Players hop through several themed time‑period stages, each offering distinct hazards and catchy chip‑tunes that evoke the early ’90s licensed‑game vibe.

Storyline

In the Game Boy version of We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story, you play as Rex, a Tyrannosaurus rex who’s been given enhanced intelligence. The core of the adventure is Rex’s quest to rescue his three dinosaur pals—Woog, Elsa, and Dweeb—who have been captured by the film’s villain, Professor Screweyes. Each level challenges you to navigate obstacles and outwit enemies while tracking down the missing friends. The game’s simple platforming and puzzle elements keep the rescue mission moving forward, culminating in a showdown with Screweyes to free the trio.
