Summary

Versus Hero: Kakutou‑ou he no Michi is a quirky early‑era crossover fighting game that landed on the original Game Boy. I was surprised to find a title that managed to squeeze the likes of Kamen Rider, Ultraman and even a few Gundam mechs into a handheld brawler, something you’d expect only on later consoles. The roster feels like a love‑letter to Japanese pop‑culture fans, letting you pit a masked motorcycle hero against a giant silver alien or a towering mobile suit in pixel‑perfect duels. Despite the monochrome screen, the game’s simple controls and exaggerated sprite animations give each match a surprisingly lively feel, turning the tiny device into a miniature arena for iconic heroes to clash.
