Play Velious - Roland no Majuu Online

Summary

Rolan's Curse drops you into an overhead world that feels like a handheld Zelda, with each screen scrolling tile‑by‑tile as you wander. You can only carry two items at once – a weapon and a sub‑item – and swapping them is as simple as picking up a new one. The default sword can be replaced by a fire wand for ranged attacks, a hammer for breaking barriers, or a potion that instantly restores health.

Temporary power‑ups appear as duplicate weapons or an armor jacket, boosting attack or defense just for the current level, while permanent upgrades come from strength gloves and heart containers that raise your stats for good. The game even supports a link‑cable co‑op, letting two Game Boys share the adventure.

Visually, the title embraces a Japanese super‑deformed (SD) style, using graphic tiles to extend the map beyond the screen. Nineteen enemy types – from zombies to wizards – populate the dungeons. Because the cartridge lacks a save battery, progress is kept via a password that updates whenever you acquire new gear or reach a new map area. Nintendo Power gave the game a respectable 78/100.

Storyline

Velious - Roland no Majuu (often just called Roland no Majuu) drops you into a land once ruled by the tyrant King Barius. After terrorizing the people of Rolan, Barius was sealed away in a deep forest castle, but centuries later his prison was broken and he unleashed endless waves of regenerating monsters upon the countryside. The game tasks a lone hero – or a second player in co‑op mode – with battling through these hordes to stop the resurrected king. As you explore the forest‑bound stronghold and surrounding regions, you must defeat Barius’s minions and ultimately confront the ruler himself. Only the brave can restore peace to Rolan.
