Summary

True Lies drops you into a top‑view run‑and‑gun sprint as secret agent Harry Tasker, tasked with averting a nuclear disaster and taking down the Crimson Jihad. The game captures the movie’s explosive vibe while stripping away the romance, letting you focus on pure action.

The portable version condenses the experience into five distinct stages – a chateau, a mall, a park, the docks, and an office building – each with its own layout and specific objectives. You start with a semi‑automatic pistol that reloads automatically after fifteen shots, and you can scavenge an Uzi, shotgun, grenades and anti‑personnel mines, though the flamethrower never makes the cut. A health gauge and limited lives keep the tension high, even though the shoulder‑diving roll is omitted due to the Game Boy’s simple controls.

Bonus secret missions pepper the gameplay, and each level opens with a still from the film, reinforcing the connection to the blockbuster without slowing you down.

Storyline

True Lies on the Game Boy adapts the film’s plot into a handheld action‑adventure. Players control secret agent Harry Tasker as he races to stop a terrorist plot led by Salim Abu Aziz. The mission takes him through a series of combat encounters, where he must defeat enemies while taking care not to harm innocent civilians. The game’s level design mirrors the movie’s high‑stakes scenarios, keeping the tension tight on the small screen.

Throughout the handheld experience, Tasker’s gadgets and quick reflexes are key to disarming the threat and completing each objective. The focus on avoiding collateral damage adds a strategic layer to the otherwise fast‑paced action.
