Summary

Titus the Fox: To Marrakech and Back started life as a French tie‑in called *Lagaf': Les Aventures de Moktar — Vol 1: La Zoubida*, built around comedian Lagaf' and his hit song “La Zoubida.” When Titus decided to bring the game to a wider audience, they swapped the celebrity for their own fox mascot and released the international version in 1992, keeping the quirky side‑scrolling platform core intact.

The gameplay revolves around dodging a parade of oddball hazards—dogs, construction workers, giant bees, and the like—while turning the tables with a clever throw mechanic. You can hurl objects at foes, or even pick up walking enemies and launch them as projectiles, often stacking items to reach higher platforms. Progress is saved via a code system that generates a unique password for each machine, a nostalgic nod to the era’s limited storage.

The Game Boy Color port trims some of the original’s tricks: you can no longer stand on thrown objects or toss enemies, and doorways disappear. Instead, invisible activation zones summon walls and ladders, and bonus stages pepper the route, rewarding golden boxes for extra points. Power Unlimited gave this version an 80% score, calling it an inventive, clear‑picture platformer that even supports two‑player play on the handheld.

Storyline

In Titus the Fox to Marrakech and Back, the beloved Foxy is snatched and taken to the far side of the Sahara desert. Determined to rescue her, players guide Titus across a sun‑scorched landscape filled with hazards and puzzles. The journey is divided into fourteen distinct levels, each demanding precise platforming and clever use of power‑ups. As the adventure unfolds, the desert’s shifting dunes and hidden oases test both skill and patience, driving the quest toward a dramatic reunion.
