Summary

The Sword of Hope II (often just called Sword of Hope II) drops you into a compact Game Boy dungeon‑crawling adventure where Prince Theo of Riccar must track down a stolen sword and the escaped villain Zakdos. The game leans heavily on text‑based commands—look, open, hit—to untangle puzzles and interact with a cast of helpful allies scattered across its many rooms. Though it arrived in the early ’90s, the title resurfaced in 1998 as part of the dual‑cartridge Selection I & II in Japan, and later found a new home on the 3DS Virtual Console in 2012. Critics were split: Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it a modest 5.25 / 10, noting the battles drag on and can feel more like a chore than a thrill, while a couple of reviewers still found charm for fans of the original. GamePro was harsher, calling the combat generic, slow, and overly repetitive.

Storyline

The Sword of Hope II is a classic dungeon‑crawler for the Game Boy. In this sequel the hero must recover the stolen Sword of Hope and track down the villainous Zakdos, who has broken free from his prison. The quest takes the player through maze‑like corridors filled with monsters and puzzles. Each step brings the player closer to re‑securing the legendary blade and sealing Zakdos once again.
