Summary

Tail 'Gator' drops you into the pixel‑perfect world of a small alligator named Charly, who attacks with a whip‑like tail swipe. The Game Boy’s four‑section stages cycle through air, land, cave and underwater themes, culminating in Basso Gila’s castle. Each area hides a key in a treasure chest; opening the last chest always yields the key to the next zone, while random items boost health, power meter, points or even clear the screen with a bomb. Filling the power meter lets Charly launch a limited‑range projectile until the timer runs out, and a rare Super Power instantly tops it up, often appearing in boss rooms. The bosses—frog, fish, bird, otter and finally Basso Gila—each have distinct attack patterns that force precise tail strikes and timing. Enemies respawn at their start points after defeat, so conserving lives by collecting hearts is vital. Allgame praised the title with a 4.5‑star rating, noting its tight controls and quirky charm.

Storyline

Tail 'Gator (sometimes just called Tail Gator) throws you into a strange war sparked by the dragon warlord Basso Gila. He teleports his massive castle and army into the peaceful animal kingdom of Moberry, intent on crushing it and claiming ultimate rule.

The council of elders of Moberry appoint Charly, a highland alligator, as their champion. His mission is to send the invaders packing and restore freedom to the kingdom.
