Storyline

According to the timeline, the story takes place two years after Street Fighter Alpha 3 and three years before Street Fighter IV. After acquiring a new body, M. Bison establishes a Shadaloo base in a Thai temple and subjugates a nearby village, still supplying it. He uses his bodyguard Sagat to announce the Second World Fighting Tournament, hoping to lure Ryu.

The tournament’s hidden purpose is Bison’s plan to capture Ryu’s body and crush any fighters who oppose his global domination. Bison, Sagat, Vega and Balrog trap the competitors in the temple hideout, beating them into submission. At the award ceremony Ryu wins his second title as World Warrior, Sagat places third and Bison second, while the champion’s spot remains empty as Ryu leaves for a new challenge.

The Game Boy version of Street Fighter II features a roster of eight fighters: Ryu, Ken, Blanka, Guile, Chun‑Li, Zangief, Balrog and Sagat.
