Summary
Snow Bros. Jr. is the Game Boy adaptation of the arcade classic, and it feels like a stripped‑down yet oddly charming cousin of the original. While the arcade’s two‑player tussle drops away, the solo campaign gets its own twist: one of the twin snowmen is kidnapped, and the survivor must blaze through icy platforms to save his brother.
Because the original hardware could display bright palettes and pair‑up bosses, the handheld version had to improvise. Enemy duos fight alone, and potions get new silhouettes to stay recognizable on the monochrome screen. Development was handled by Dual, with Naxat Soft launching it in Japan in May 1991 and Capcom bringing it to North America the following January.
After you beat the 50 levels rebuilt from the arcade, the cartridge rewards you with an extra set of ten brand‑new stages, making the handheld experience feel both nostalgic and fresh for anyone revisiting the snowy world.
Storyline
In the Game Boy version of Snow Bros. Jr., the story takes a different turn from the arcade original. One of the twin snow‑man brothers is kidnapped, prompting the other to set out on a daring rescue mission. The rescued brother’s disappearance drives the gameplay, as the remaining snowman battles through icy stages to save his sibling.
