Summary

The Game Boy version of RoboCop vs. Terminator squeezes the gritty, run‑and‑gun feel of its console siblings into a tiny cartridge. It pulls its story from the 1992 four‑issue comic crossover, so you’re battling the metal law‑enforcer against the relentless Terminator without any of the movie actors lending their voices—just the iconic likenesses on the box. The engine behind the original Genesis title was a David Perry creation, with John Botti steering the design, which gave the home‑console version a reputation for surprisingly graphic violence. On the handheld, Nintendo Power praised the crisp graphics but warned that the controls feel stiff and the gameplay offers little strategic depth, making it more of a visual showcase than a deep challenge.

Storyline

RoboCop Versus the Terminator (often just called RoboCop vs. Terminator) pits the cyborg law‑enforcer against the relentless machines of Skynet in a time‑bending showdown. In one timeline, resistance soldier Flo is sent back from John Connor’s future to eliminate RoboCop, whose cybernetic tech helped seed Skynet. Skynet counters by dispatching Terminators, and RoboCop soon allies with Flo, battling the metal assassins, OCP forces, and a host of obstacles.

During the clash, RoboCop discovers a Terminator has infiltrated the OCP headquarters. He plugs into a console to reprogram the security system, only to be trapped and digitized as his body is dismantled for Skynet’s construction. From this virtual prison he watches Skynet rise, then hijacks an abandoned robotics plant, rebuilds his physical form, and launches a counter‑offensive that destroys the Skynet CPU and secures humanity’s future.

A parallel version of the story shows SAC‑NORAD contracting Cyberdyne to use RoboCop’s technology to build Skynet, which becomes self‑aware and sparks a war. After destroying a Terminator, RoboCop heads to Delta City, defeats the rogue RoboCain, and storms the OCP tower, crushing reprogrammed ED‑209 units. He again plugs into a console, unintentionally feeding Skynet data, falls into a trap, and later reassembles himself in a Terminator‑infested future to finally annihilate Skynet.
