Summary
Prehistorik Man for the Game Boy drops me into a simple two‑button adventure where Sam the caveman can only jump or swing his club. Ten ordinary levels alternate with three hidden bonus stages, and after every second level a boss showdown tests your timing. Points come from thumping enemies and rummaging through crates that hide food, diamonds, video‑games and other oddities; the club can even reveal secret meals tucked in the scenery. The title is peppered with Easter eggs, from extra credit tricks to holiday photographs of the dev team tucked in the background of certain rooms. Electronic Gaming Monthly gave the cartridge a 6‑out‑of‑10, praising the tight controls and funny sound effects while warning that the gameplay can grow a bit repetitive after a while.
Storyline
Prehistorik Man is set in the Stone Age, where a peaceful village is raided at night by greedy dinosaurs that steal all its food. With winter looming and starvation threatening the villagers, the chief calls upon Sam, a young and agile caveman, to venture out and gather enough provisions to see the community through the cold months. Along the way Sam battles a variety of prehistoric animals and faces off against humorous end‑of‑level bosses, all in a frantic quest to bring food back home.
