Summary

Pipe Dream on the Game Boy drops you into a frantic puzzle where you must stitch together a pipeline for a constantly oozing green slime, known in some versions as "flooz" or "goo." A five‑piece dispenser feeds you new pipe sections that you place on a grid, but you can’t rotate them, so each piece must fit the orientation you’re given. As the timer counts down, the slime begins to flow; if it reaches an open end before you’ve met the required length, the game ends, while a successful run advances you to the next, increasingly demanding level.

Later stages throw in obstacles, one‑way sections, and reservoirs that pause the flow, giving you a brief breather to lay more pipe. Bonus rounds appear after every fourth level, presenting a sliding‑tile puzzle where you slide adjacent pieces into a single empty space to extend the pipeline as far as possible. Scores are tallied for every pipe the slime traverses, with penalties for unused pieces and bonuses for crossing the slime over itself or filling reservoirs.

The Game Boy port earned mixed reviews, landing scores of 5, 6, 7, and 7 out of 10 from Electronic Gaming Monthly, reflecting its addictive yet sometimes unforgiving nature.
