Summary
Ninja Boy II blends fast‑paced action with lightweight role‑playing elements, creating a surprisingly deep experience for a Game Boy title. While the original Ninja Boy was a pure platformer, this sequel lets you upgrade stats, acquire new techniques, and explore branching town screens, echoing the feel of its Super Chinese predecessors. The game's pixel art captures a quirky, ninja‑filled universe where every level feels like a mini‑adventure, and the chiptune soundtrack keeps the energy high.
What really grabs me is the way the combat evolves: you can string together combos, unlock special attacks, and even switch between characters to exploit enemy weaknesses. The progression system is simple enough for a handheld but rewards perseverance, encouraging you to revisit earlier stages after powering up. For anyone who loves retro action‑RPG hybrids, Ninja Boy 2 stands out as a hidden gem in the early‑90s portable library.
Storyline
In Ninja Boy 2 the adventure picks up right after the heroes saved their world and an intergalactic conference was convened. Alien invaders crash the summit, kidnap every dignitary and announce themselves as the new rulers of the galaxy. To make the claim look legitimate they promote several alien leaders to lieutenant status. The ninja brothers Jack and Ryu are summoned by the people of Futureland to thwart the overlords. Their only hope is to build a spaceship from scratch, gathering parts scattered across the stars. The duo must land on every planet, repairing the vessel and fighting alien forces along the way, all in a race to restore peace.
