Summary

Navy SEALs on the Game Boy packs a surprisingly deep set of mechanics into its tiny screen. You control Lieutenant Dale Hawkins as he sneaks through five side‑scrolling stages, planting time‑bombs on crates that hide Stinger missiles and then racing against the clock to get out alive. The default handgun feels solid, but hidden crates reward you with a machine gun, rocket launcher or even a flamethrower, turning each level into a little treasure hunt.

Movement is surprisingly versatile for a handheld shooter: you can jump in any direction, crawl, climb ladders, grapple onto ledges and even push massive crates to create new platforms. Those crates aren’t just scenery—they’re the key to reaching the bomb‑placement spots and escaping before the timer blows. The enemy roster consists of Arab terrorists, each requiring a mix of firepower and positioning to neutralise.

What really stands out is the tension between the frantic gunplay and the methodical puzzle of arranging explosives and escape routes. It’s a compact, high‑octane experience that feels like a miniature action movie in your pocket.

Storyline

Navy SEALs on Game Boy follows Lieutenant Dale Hawkins, a Navy SEAL on a covert operation in the Middle East. His objective is to locate hidden Stinger missile caches left by Arab terrorists and plant time‑bombs to destroy them before they can be used. The game spans five side‑scrolling stages, starting in a harsh desert and moving into a 3D‑styled city version of Beirut where Hawkins and his team free hostages. After the rescue, the squad heads to a submarine for the final extraction. Throughout the mission players must battle terrorist forces, find missile crates, set the explosives, and escape before the countdown ends.
