Summary
Mickey Mouse: Magic Wands!—originally titled Mickey Mouse V: Mahou no Stick in Japan—belongs to Kemco’s Crazy Castle lineup as the series’ fifth entry. It launched for Game Boy in Japan in late 1993, reached European markets in 1995, and finally arrived in North America in 1998 under Nintendo’s Player’s Choice banner, complete with Super Game Boy enhancements. The title is notable as the last Kemco‑produced Mickey Mouse game in the franchise, and the sole North American release that retained its original name minus the Roman numeral. Gameplay mixes puzzle and action, tasking players to sweep a wand over hidden crystals that reveal image fragments, items, or foes. Each of the ten‑stage levels culminates in an end‑boss encounter, and completing picture puzzles unveils the character that’s been captured. Its quirky blend of arcade timing and picture‑assembly makes it a nostalgic curiosity for retro‑gaming fans.
Storyline
In Mickey Mouse: Magic Wands! (often just called Magic Wands), Mickey and his pals wander into a dark forest and stumble upon a haunted castle owned by the evil witch Yashja. The castle is riddled with tricks, traps, and enchanted wands that can summon ice or fire. Suddenly a massive hole opens beneath the group, sending the friends tumbling into the depths while the witch keeps them captive. Determined, Mickey battles through the maze of hazards until he reaches a long central chamber, where he shouts for Minnie. She answers, they embrace, and the reunited crew is joined by Goofy, who snaps a celebratory photo of their victory.
