Summary
Kid Dracula—sometimes called Kid Drac—delivers a delightfully goofy platforming adventure on the original Game Boy. You play as the teen vampire who’s misplaced most of his spooky powers while the nefarious Garamoth attempts to claim his castle. As you wander through eight whimsically themed stages—a ghost pirate ship, a volcano, a robotics factory, even his own manor—you slowly regain abilities: a sprouted projectile, gravity‑flipping walks, a brief bat‑form flight, an umbrella shield, and bomb‑crafting that shatters foes and walls.
The humor is off‑kilter, the sprites pop with punchy colors, and the chiptune soundtrack keeps the mood light‑hearted, all wrapped in a tight, single‑player layout. Released by Konami in early 1993 in Japan and later that March in the U.S., the game was praised for its charming graphics, witty dialogue, and smooth level pacing, even if it never aimed to revolutionize the genre.
Storyline
In Kid Dracula (also known as Boku Dracula‑kun) the self‑styled Demon King awakens after a long slumber to find his domain threatened by the dinosaur Galamoth. Stripping his father's cape, the ten‑thousand‑year‑old youngster sets out on a quest to defeat the beast and reclaim his throne.
Along the way he discovers that he has lost most of his vampiric abilities. The game forces him to recover those powers while battling Garamoth, who is trying to seize the castle. By regaining his forgotten skills, Kid Dracula can finally confront the monster and restore order.
